A bit of bag making

Last Thursday I did medium type things again.

On Tuesday, I was asked by Dawn if I’d do the service on Thursday night with Tracy. Then the nerves started but Wednesday mum took me out.

We needed to try out a cafe/restaurant that we are thinking of using for the MS group to have afternoon tea. So we went to Cuppacino and it was brilliant. The food we had was great. And of course the desserts were brilliant to. I had sticky toffee pudding that was good but because we were thinking of using them for afternoon tea I had to make sure the scones were good. I can safely say that they weren’t good, they were amazing. So on top of my meal and desert I had a scone with jam and cream too. It was for research purposes of course. Nothing to do with the fact I’m greedy and like food.

After that we went over to Bury. Mum had a prescription that needed to be collected and so did dad so a trip to Boots was needed. Of course while we were in Bury and it being a market day it would be very rude not to visit the fabric shop. Again I spent some money. I got some grey waterproof fabric that I’m planning to use to make a bag. And I also bought some lovely woollen fabric that would make a brilliant toasty snuggly blanket. The only thing it needed was to have the edges sorted so off to another stall to get some bias binding.

Wednesday night we had an MS meeting were we reported back about the restaurant and I fed back everything that I’d been up to.

Thursday night came round and it was time for the service. I didn’t really know what to expect and I learnt not to plan anything and just wait for spirit to tell me what I was doing. During the day I did ask spirit to give me a hint about something to talk about if I ended up doing the philosophy. I was given the word Hope.

That was it, just the word. I did have a bit of a think about it but decided just to leave it up to them and they would help me talk about it at the service. And as expected they did. I don’t remember much about the service because when I’m working like that it doesn’t really go in and register. It’s like the information just goes through me.

I did get some constructive feedback at the end from Tracy. I’m always open to feedback like that because they’re things to work on to make you better. So the feedback was that the messages were good but I need to work a bit more on providing evidence. So that is something I’m working on when I practice with people.

The only thing I remember from the service is how uncomfortable I felt. I had to use the stool that was on the platform because my pain was quite active and rearing it’s head. And sew was the dizziness. I’m not sure if it was something as part of a message I was supposed to give or if I was just having a bad day. Normally when I’m on the platform spirit are quite nice and they take the pain away for a bit but this time they didn’t. Maybe it was the anxiety of working that kept the pain there. I don’t know.

The other thing I started on Thursday day time was a bit of bag making. It took a few days. I started on Thursday cutting out the pattern from the sheet. The pattern was huge and it felt like it was taking forever to cut out the pieces.almost to the point where I nearly couldn’t be bothered doing the next bit.

Once all the pattern pieces were cut out it was then time to pin them to the fabric and start that. It got to the point where I had to start getting ready for church so the bag making had to stop.

So got ready for church and had the service. I’ve already talked about that. So on Friday I started with the cutting out the parts and sewing the bag. I spent most of Friday and Saturday working with Dorris on the bag. And now it’s time to unveil it:

While making it I decided to put some interfacing on the fabric. Then found that the bag didn’t have a lining so it was going to look rubbish inside. So rather than that I used the pattern pieces again but this time out of some normal cotton fabric I did the body of the bag again but used it as a liner.

After finishing the bag it was just empty so mum suggested making some pouches to put stuff is so using the lady over fabric I started making some zip pouches. I decided I’ll definitely need one for my pils and other lotions and potions . For that one to make it a bit special I decided to use some of that Holland and sherry fabric that I used for the worry monster last week. But on top of that I have 3 pouches. All lined of course. 1 had a band that matched the bag.

Because I was bored of always having to put up with change in my pockets I decided that I was going to make myself a little coin purse.

I think that’s about it for the adventures with Dorris so here are pictures of some cards I’ve made and the tangles I’ve done.

That’s about it for last week.

Love and light.
