Dog toy.

So 2 weeks ago I said COVID had entered the house. Being honest it was pretty uneventful. Me and mum didn’t get it at all. We did the testing everyday and each day we came up clean We were shocked about that.

I’m wondering if dad and Mason got a false positive. I think it was just a cold they had that brought the positive result. As far as I know the cold virus is a coronavirus and I think it was that that flagged the result. I’m happy to be corrected though.

Nearly every day for the past few weeks I’ve done something with Dorris. Last time I talked about a bag I was making for mum.

Here are some picture of that bag:

I’ve made some zip pouches for her too. So that she can keep her bits in them that she can carry round in the bag:

I’ve made another bag for mum too but this time it was padded and lined.

With that bag there was was 3 layers inside, there was hemline interfacing, Vlieseline S13 sew in Interfacing and Vlieseline 249 Lightweight Wadding . So we’ll and truly padded. I’m not quite sure why I put so many layers in it but I did. I think it was because I wanted to get an idea of what it’s like to work with them. So now I know.

I talked about making some cushion covers and here is a picture of one of the ones I’ve made:

I made 2 other cushion covers as well, one out of the same fabrics as the picture and 1 out of some grey fabric that mum picked.

The issue now is that mum and dad have decided the are now enough cushions in the front room. So now I’m stuck with over 2 metres of the grey fabric and a couple of the cushion things you put in the cushion. The inner or cushion pads.

As per usual there has been some tangling

I’ve also made a card for one of mum and dads friends

With that card I used some of the Sanntangle stencils to get the lighthouse and ship and the rest on coloured in and hi did consider adding a sea monster but then changed my mind.

With the card I used the stencils to get the ship and the lighthouse then I used some of the new Sanntangle brush pens and some water to paint/colour the picture. Then a bit on pencil to do the shading.

But the thing I’m most proud of is something that I have finished today. I made a stuffed toy dog.

I haven’t come up with a name for him yet. Any ideas?

I wanted to do something that was a bit more complex so I order a pattern online for some toys. So that is like the first real massive tissue paper pattern that I’ve used. It was interesting any way. So Monday night I cut out the pattern pieces, pinned the pattern to the fabric and cut it out. Then yesterday afternoon I started the job of sewing it all together. At first I thought about making the dog out of some velvet fabric that I have, but then decided to use some of the normal fabric instead.

I know there are a few things I need to work on but as the saying goes practice makes perfect. I like the dog, I’m happy with it and I’m majorly impressed with myself especially as it’s the first time I’ve used and followed a large pattern. So, that’s all that matters.

There is an online 2 day workshop this weekend about sewing and I’m trying to decide if I want to do it or not. I think it might be useful to get some more experience and learn new things. Now I’ve just typed that I’m even more tempted to book it.

So now I’ve said that I’m off to book my place.

So with that love and light.
