Shaving Jumpers

When you get home from a weekend away is it normal to shave a jumper?

In fact is shaving jumpers a normal thing?

I suppose I should explain. I’ve got a couple of new gadgets. One is an electric stitch remover and the other is a bobble or lint remover/shaver. I ordered them last week and they arrived over the weekend. So here is the bobble remover I was using to shave a jumper:

It’s quite a cool gadget as it removes or shaves off the bobbles on items of clothing. The jumper I was shaving is a hoodie I’ve not worn for a while because it was covers in bobbles. The bobbles made it look old and a bit tattered. After shaving it looks better. Not brand new but still looks loads better and less tattered.

The other gadget is the electric stitch remover:

This makes undoing stitches a million times easier. All you need to do is run it down the stitching line and the the section just come a part with no issues.

So the weekend away……

It started off about lunchtime on Friday when me and mum set off for our tangly weekend away.

So we did plan one stop on the way and that was in Pontefract. We stopped at a very special shop. In January I took a picture of a certain factory and this shop in Pontefract is the factory shop.

The out side looks brilliant but inside it’s even better:

Inside I was like a kid in a sweet shop. I had no idea where to look or what to choose. I wanted some of this, some of that, a couple of these and a bag of those. They had big 3kg bags, smaller bags, normal size bags, 1kg tubs 2kg bags and tubs. The had bags of individual sweets or bags of mixed sweets. I was in heaven. I felt like running around singing the Verruca Salt song from The original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

We spent the best part of an hour looking round and choosing what we wanted. Then we left with our haul:

After leaving the shop we went to a cafe for some lunch then carried on with our journey.

About 4 ish in the afternoon we arrived at our destination. Sunny Scunthorpe. The home of Sanntangle HQ. We were there for a weekend of workshops run by Sandra. Over the weekend I got to meet some of the people on the design team. I got to meet Sheila, Margarida, Angie and Rhianon. All great people that come up with some absolutely amazing art work.

Wine did 3 projects on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. The first on Saturday was a little butterfly bookmark. It was cute and quite easy a great way to start of the weekend. The next project was to tangle on a mug using a sharpie. I had an accident with mine though yesterday. I knocked it off the side, it hit the floor and smashed. I was gutted, I know it’s only a mug but it made me feel really bad and really upset. And I’m feeling like that again now because I’ve just looked at it. These are the bits that are left over:

Saturday afternoons project was, as in Sanntangle fashion, a larger piece. Or a mouse at a key hole into a fantasy world.

I’m not entirely happy with how this came out so, and we didn’t get to the shading part but I think I’m going to do this one again.

On Sunday we did 2 more projects. Something I did learn on Sunday morning was that I have major difficulty with intense concentration over a few hours. I started off the project fine but towards the end I had real issues concentrating. All my eyes wanted to do was close and go to sleep. By this point my lines just became really scratchy and the piece became a bit messy. Because of that I haven’t taken a picture because it is something that I will be doing again.

Sunday afternoon’s project was some flowers. I found this one great because I like drawing flowers. So here is a picture of my work from Sunday afternoon

I like it and I think it looks good. On the way home I had a thought

Would that picture be classed as cannibalism?

But here are some other pictures from the weekend. Some are mine and some are other peoples:

There are some amazing people in those pictures.

So overall it was a brilliant weekend and an amazing birthday present from mum and dad. I finally got to meet up with people I’ve only spoke to on messenger. Here are some picture of the work from the weekend. These are Sandra’s, that’s why they look so good:

Sticking with tangling here is the tiles I’ve done over the past few weeks:

I’ve done some other bits of tangling too:

The box is the storage for my mini tiles. I got a box at the weekend for the Macro Tiles but it’s still bear at the moment with no tangling.

Also for Father’s Day I made dad a card with some tangling on it

I also did another card for a friends birthday:

I’ve done some sewing over the last few weeks too. I’ve repaired the eyelets in one of dad’s aprons. Doing eyelets is quite fun, line up the bits and a swift whack with a hammer then you have a hole then do it all again with the eyelet pieces and you have a metal lined eyelet.

Here are the eyelets I used:

And here is my repair:

I decided to go round the hole a few times to make sure the patch on the front and back held together.

Last week my journey with SNU Healing Mediumship officially started. All the paperwork came through and I got my healing card.

I’m excited about where this journey will take me and all the amazing things I’ll learn.

I think that’s about it from me. I’m off to catch up with the sewing bee from last week.

Love and Light
