Socks, hats, crystals and cards.

So things have been pretty crafty these last 2 weeks.

So start off with knitting, I finished the pair of socks.

They fit but I’m not so sure about the pattern. The heel is a bit boxy rather than fitted but there are millions of sock patterns out there so I’ll just find another pattern and try that. I also started knitting a slouch beanie for myself too. It’s one of the first patterns I ever got. I did a grey version in the last summer of freedom. That was 12 months after I started knitting. So this time I’m making a beige one with cotton yarn.

The one on the left is the original and on the right is the work in progress.

On to another craft I haven’t touched for a while is needle felting. I made two birds from the first needle felting kit I got in September 19.

It’s taken me a while to get round to it but I’ve done them. They could look better and I’m more happy with the robin than the blue tit. I think the robot looks a little cartoon like and the blue tit just looks evil.

On to tangling. There have been a few tangles in the last two weeks:

I’ve also tangled on a card but it’s one I can’t share at the moment.

I’ve also made a few cards. One I made a few weeks ago had to be remade because a certain member of the family decided to destroy it.

That’s what it looked like before
That’s what it looked like after

Yeah Zoe the black furry bin dipper decided to destroy the card because it was left on a table within her reach.

So after the destruction it need to be redone. But looking at it again I decided that sunflowers may not have been the best idea for a sympathy card. As sympathy card are quite difficult to make I wasn’t sure what to actually do. So I turned to a group on Facebook for help and suggestions. It was the I Love Tattered Lace group on Facebook. The people on there came up with lots of lovely suggestions and they gave me loads of examples and ideas. The cards they came up with were absolutely great. I wish I could share them with you but as they are other peoples work it wouldn’t be right. Anyway here is the card I came up with:

From seeing all of the examples the people on the Facebook group came up with it did make me realise I need to do a bit more work with Tattered Lace products.

Onto the other cards I’ve worked on in the last few weeks.

I’m impressed with those cards and all of the ideas/plans for them came from magazines from different brands. The magazines are full of examples, inspiration and ideas. They are also great places to learn new skills, ways of working and how to do things to make your cards look better.

Another craft I’ve spent most of this weekend working on is crystal art. I’ve done a few stickers in the past and the front of a note book but I decided it’s time to work on something bigger. So it arrived yesterday morning and I got started pretty much straight away.

That’s the box

And this is how far I’ve got with it:

Just above the black line

I’ve placed each crystal individually one at a time. It’s like painting by numbers but with crystals instead of paint. It is so I want to say mind numbing but that’s not right. It is so mindful and relaxing. It is a great way to escape the world for a while. I started that at about lunchtime on Saturday. I haven’t been working on it flat out but I haven’t really done much else other than a bit of knitting in the evening. So in a couple more days it should be all finished. When it’s done I’ll put up a photo.

What else have I been up to. Well I climbed Mount Everest. At the top the view was not at all what I expected. I thought I’d be able to see for miles but all I could see where lots of white fluffy clouds. As I was so high up it was the top of the clouds so it was sunny at least. It was a bit nippy so I did have to put a jumper on. I was impressed with myself though as I only had to use my puffer a couple of times. There was me thinking I’d almost need it surgically attaching to my face but no. It was a trek an a half but a massive achievement. It’s just a shame that I didn’t get any videos or pictures.

I’ve also been observing an American family of 5. They have a dog and live in New England. I find the things they get up really funny and entertaining. I found it completely by chance whilst looking for something to watch on Disney+. It is binge worth TV and I’d suggest it to anyone that likes that sort of thing. The latest is that it’s just been discovered that the wife of a friend of the family is having an affair with a different family friend.

Church started up again last Tuesday and the service was good. I’ve never seen the medium before but she was alright. But it was great just to see actual human beings in person rather than through a computer screen. The next service is on Tuesday. The name of the medium sounds familiar but with my memory being as good as it is I’m not sure if I’ve seen this one before either.

There have been the usual end of months MS meetings but again through a computer screen. But after the news from the PM the other day there may well be light at the end of the tunnel. So let’s not run before we can walk and all follow the rules in the meantime until they are changed and eased properly.

Oh yeah, the American family are called Griffin and the program is called Family guy. I know some hate it but I just find it funny.

So stay safe, follow the rules and may your days be filled with Love and Light.
